A ‘Go Explore’ guide for Wild Coast Sussex, part of the Sussex Wildlife Trust.

Printed sustainably on recycled paper, the ‘Go Explore’ guide was the first key application of the new brand identity we designed . Created to be distinct and stand out, the guide was an opportunity to showcase all the curious elements of the brand, integrated with the charity’s photography, bringing to life exciting ways to discover the local coast and how to get involved.

Designed with families in mind, the guide reflects the idea of ‘discovery’ from the new brand and includes all kinds of information that will help educate, inspire and get people out and about, exploring the various walking trails across the Sussex coastline.

Echoing the Wild Coast Sussex key messages, the guide is here to help ensure the beauty and importance of the Sussex coastal ecosystem is recognised, inspiring local communities to address the issues of plastic waste and coastal health through a wide range of activities including a Sensory page where younger explorers can draw what they see, smell, touch, hear and taste.

The guide, distributed all across Sussex, features bold typography, impactful graphic marine creatures and a vivid spot colour combined with a contrasting, rich printed black for extra standout when sitting alongside other similar communications.

The photography is featured in rock shapes to add another connection to our coastline. An illustrated Chroma the Cuttlefish character helps the younger audience through the guide with interesting facts and tips to help them learn and get the most out of any trip to the coast. The maps throughout the guide are created in a bold, contemporary style and point out the landmarks you can visit.

Each of the walking trails featured can be scanned with a smart phone for a map of the route.

“I cannot recommend Evoke highly enough! Tom designed a coastal guide book for families for us which included illustrations, maps and layout design. He also liaised with local, eco-friendly printers for us. The finished product is outstanding in quality and design, we absolutely love it! It’s bold, eye-catching, contemporary and perfect for our target audience. Communication was fantastic throughout the whole process – Tom is a pleasure to work with.”
